A to Z Challenge: A is for April

min-drawingThe A to Z Challenge involves 26 posts during the month of April. I usually max out at 4 posts a month, but I’m taking this on in an effort to blog more often and  learn the art of writing short, quick posts. The theme of Creative Staycation is writing/creativity, so you can expect the A to Z posts to follow along those lines.

My name begins with A, so I thought this would be an easy post. A is for Alexis, right? Nope. The post I ended up writing is more about my intentions for this month, so A is for April instead.

On top of A to Z, April is also Camp NaNoWriMo, a more flexible version of National Novel Writing Month. I’m working on Minerva. I’ll admit, I have some WIP guilt around not working on revising H&S or Landscapes, and my original Camp NaNo plan was to outline the books following those. But Min’s story is the one that feels closest right now, so that’s what I’m going to work on.

Last night, when the thought of making a Camp NaNo decision became too much, I pulled out my art supplies and settled in front of the TV to draw and watch some Vin Diesel sci-fi movies. (Babylon A.D. and Pitch Black.) I drew Min, the heroine, using a photo of model Tara Lynn as reference. The end result is posted above.

What are your plans for April? Do you have any writing or blogging goals?

  1. April is the perfect word to begin with after all it’s the month of the blogging challenge. My max blogging limit is 2 posts a month, so this is my favourite way of pushing myself into the pool 🙂

  2. Is that Megan Fox as April from the latest TMNT movie or just a woman with a spring-ish scarf?

It sounds like you are trying to cover too many bases at once. I fear this post-a-day effort may burn you out.

  3. What a wonderful talent to accompany your writing! I so wish I could draw my characters. Instead I spend hours on pinterest looking for just the right inspirational face =P I’m doing Camp NaNo as well, using it to revise my manuscript from November. Good luck this month!

  4. I am doing the A to Z Challenge and Camp NaNo as well! I’ve no idea how I’m going to get it all done but I do know I’m going to try my hardest to see what I can accomplish in April. (On top of that I do ROW80, which is a goal setting ‘challenge’ of sorts). Busy month!

If you ever want to do writing sprints on twitter I am around in the evenings (EST), and usually around 2pm EST (it’s when I take my lunch at work). Have a fantastic week and good luck!
